Ocon Claims He is Alonso's Best Teammate Since Hamilton. But Is He?

Image
In an interview with Motorsport.com Esteban Ocon claimed that he was Alonso's most competitive teammate since the Spaniard teamed with Lewis Hamilton in 2007. This got me thinking, Alonso is about to break the record for the most F1 races ever and he has a career that spans over 2 decades. His list of teammates is a list of the who's who and the who's that of Formula 1 over the past 20 years. Alonso's teammates have a shared 10 World Championships and 166 wins but who out of them really pushed Fernando the most. In this blog we shall break down each of the 2 time world champions teammates to truly decide who is the very best of Alonso's 13 teammates.  Tarso Marques - 2001 Like many upon hearing the name Tarso Marques I said "who is that?" the answer to that question is that he was Fernando Alonso's very first teammate when he join the struggling Minardi team in 2001.    Marques had an interesting career in Formula 1. The Brazilian competed for Minard...

Nicolas Latifi - More Than Just Memes?

So, its happened. Williams have announced that Nicolas Latifi will not be driving for them next year and it very much looks like he will not be picked up by any other team so this could be the end of Latifi's time in Formula 1. This makes me ask the question how will Latifi's F1 career be remembered and it seems that the answer I keep on getting is memes. The Goatifi meme's have taken over F1 Twitter but does Latifi deserve better?  Latifi joined Formula 1 in 2020 coming off the back of finishing 2nd in the 2019 F2 championship. Latifi joined the struggling Williams team who had just had the worst season in their history only scoring 1 point all year. Unfortunately it would get worse for Williams who would finish the 2020 season with 0 points. Although it was Latifi who would get closest to scoring points more often than his highly acclaimed teammate George Russell, Latifi finished 11th three times to Russell's one including a 11th on debut for Latifi (9 of the 20 dri...

Image
We all love driver transfers. Whether it is the speculation, the surprises or the silly season. Talking about which drivers will be with which team is a favorite past time of any F1 fan. The 2023 driver market keeps on throwing us curve ball after curve ball whether it is Vettel's retirement, another Alonso shock move or the Piastri situation. In this blog post I intended to breakdown everything we know about every team's lineup for next season. Now for the teams, explaining their line ups for next season seems to either be incredibly simple or like explaining 8 seasons of Game Of Thrones to your Grandma. So I will start with the simple ones. Mercedes Mercedes will go into 2023 with an unchanged line up from the 2022 season. George Russell joined the team in 2022 after much speculation and is rumored to have a contract that runs to 2024 where as the 7 time world champion Lewis Hamilton joined the team in 2013 and will be celebrating his 10th year with the team next year...
